>I am writing a simple VFP program to transfer a file over the internet. I have everything working except my client uses a modem to connect to the internet. Is there anyway I can use VFP to instruct dial up networking to connect and then disconnect when done? I know I can use VFP to load internet explorer, and if set to dial everytime this would connect to the internet. And then I could use idle settings to force a disconnect after say an hour. But is there a more elegant way to do this? In some cases, after checking file dates, I would like to force a disconnect after like 2 minutes. My client is running Windows 2000 SP3 and I am using VFP 6 SP5. Thanks in advance for any help!

I'd suggest using a product such as PCAnywhere, which, in its current version, contains both a scripting language and an automation model that could handle your requirements quite well. It'd almost certainly cost less than the cost of the amount of time you spend beating your head on the wall, and the cost of icepacks and bandages...
