Try also _VFP.AutoYield = .T. before executing command.

Well, if nothing helps...

You can try asynchronous connection and FetchAsNeeded option, and have your own progress bar this way. This will slow down queries a bit, but gives much more flexibility. See FAQ#8150.

The problem arises when the Esc is trapped by SQL Server during the execution of the SPT query. VFP doesn't seem to recognize this an Esc and certainly doesn't process it as one.
