Check the Hentzenwerke's site (www.hentzenwerke.com). There's a book (can't remember the exact title) on the subject of building client sever applications with VFP and SQL Server. Should be exactly what you're looking for.

Also in the MSDN library there's a white paper by Robert Green on the subject that's excellent.
