the range object represents the portion of the document that
will be affected by formatting commands. it has similar
properties and methods to the selection object, but it is
not necessarily visible. you can effect changes on the range
without changing your current selection. (something you can't
do manually !!)

also, don, there are some actions that you cannot record
macros for. i know there must be a simple & logical explanation,
but i don't know what it is. e.g. you can't record a macro
for dragging the table side line left or right.
