>I am fan of FoxPro, I hate people when they talk abt foxpro by keeping the old dos version in mind. the so called VB experts always try to demerites VFP. they thinks that Vfp is like old foxpro (That time Dos Fox was the king). they are not aware of the features of VPF, I would say that Microsoft also failed in marketing VFP, they marketed VB well, I dont understand how microsoft given more importance to VB ?.

Hello Jijo David;
We have discussed the reason why VB is so popular. Here is a basic outline of some of the reasons. There may be many more that others would wish to add.
1. Bill Gates first company supplied Basic on a computer board for the S-100 computer (1975) and he made money.
2. Basic has a special place in the life of Bill Gates so “Visual Basic” was developed by Microsoft.
3. Selling Visual Basic and SQL Server produces a much higher profit than selling Visual FoxPro by itself.
4. As long as there is a Microsoft there will be a product somehow called “Basic” such as Visual Basic or Visual Basic .NET.
Sales and marketing of Visual Basic has always been a high priority for Microsoft. Personally, I have found that Visual FoxPro makes a much better front end with SQL Server, or any other backend, then using Visual Basic. I use both Visual FoxPro and Visual Basic for data intense applications. When allowed to I use Visual FoxPro for application development as it takes less time to complete a project and performs better.
I must state that I use a commercial framework for all my Visual FoxPro development.
Tom
