I have been lurking this thread for a while. Initially, I thought the subject was someones death! Now I realize that JVP was that young, cocky - handsome square jawed (hansome) brite guy (I hate him already:)! He had good writing and arguing skills - and a very dry sense of humor! His humor was so dry, it seemed easy to confuse what he said with insults!

I don't know what happened to him - but I miss him. He took extreme positions. I didn't beleive he actually advocated those extremes. Rather, I thought - he used them as tools to force me to evaluate [and shore-up) my support and arguments for positions I may have held (i don't really have a position on anything - so it was difficult to respond to him!
