Everything is working fine now. The only issues I had were:

1) When I tried to set the OleDB Properties for 'mode' which I didn't have to do, I got all sorts of errors.

2)DTS seems to be case sensitive. When my source vfp table was 'orders', with all lower case letters, DTS assumes that my destination is 'orders' also. But DTS does not recognize that the table 'orders' already exists in my sql server data. In enterprise manager the table is listed as 'Orders'. When I change my destination in DTS to 'Orders' from 'orders' then DTS will let me append rows, not just 'create'. This seems like a bug, because sql server isn't case sensitive with respect to table names in any other context, as far as I know?
