It's not clear from your post where and how you upload "Excel 97 format file" in your application, what command causes error and what this error is.
The latest service pack for VFP6 is SP5 and you can get it from http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/downloads/updates/sp/vs6/sp5/default.asp.
