Mark;

Gene Autry owned a few things and one of them was a motel in Palm Springs. He took the Angels baseball team there every year for Spring Training. The newspaper article said it was run down and cheap. Perhaps Advisor could find that same motel?

Too bad they do not use a more central location like Denver or Kansas City. Perhaps more people could attend.

I worked with a FoxPro developer who lived in the Palm Springs area. Regardless of the time of the year he would sky dive. I refuse to go near a parachute and have done so since I left the Air Force.

Getting on my first Air Force C-47, there were two officers standing on either side of the door of the aircraft. One hit me in the stomach with a parachute and the other handed me a paper bag. Such a drill! This guys were clowns and acted this way to retain their sanity. They told me as they provided me with the above equipment, “We expect you to use both before you hit the ground”! We did! Re-enlist and enjoy the benifits! No thank you! :)

>Unless there is a high $$$ resort there, San Jose would not be expensive enough. As for parachuting, Palm Springs might be too hot that time of year and all the thermal updrafts might make me miss the target. Advisor needs to go back to school and learn a little geography. Last I looked there are 47 other States in the Union besides California, Florida and Arizona. I hear Denver, Seattle, Philadelphia and Boston, to name a few, in June are quite nice.

>>Too bad they do not choose San Jose, California. We have an airport and many places to hold conventions. Our hotels are only at 30% capacity and there are lots of good deals advertised. There are good places to eat, interesting places to visit, as well as a "few" high tech companies in the area. Sorry to sound commercial and all that but I know what you mean about Palm Springs.

>>Have you considered parachuting into Palm Springs while the airplane is on the way into Los Angeles? It could save time getting there but leaving will be the same old problem! :)
