I've been off working for a while (of all things). Thanks for your response. After some more testing, it turns out that my text box is set to use my system settings for date format and that my system is set for LONG. This does look like a permutation of the same issue. I can see that it's not a valid date in VFP when 3 of the year's digits are typed in, however I'm pretty sure the property shouldn't dissappear! I'm going to log it as a bug in VFP8. There is of course, a work-around, so I'm not too concerned about it.
