thanks !! boy that was quick response. i'm amazed at how
many questions you answer on this forum and still have a
full-time job !!

and i don't mind using a cursor like that. that's elegant
enough for me. :)

glad to hear you can do that in VFP8. does that mean they
have upgraded VFP so that it fully conforms to the SQL92
standard ?

i've began to use Oracle8i and get a little spoiled having
access to the "full-blown" SQL command set. of course there
are things that are WAY easier in VFP than Oracle.
