I understand the convenience you are looking for. With the other methods, you would need a simple form to allow them to edit the message (in an editbox), and a "Send" commandButton to do the rest of the work.

Is you application expecting Outlook to be the email client? If so, you can use the display() method of the Outlook message (instead of the send()) to show the same screen you are getting with shellExecute. Let us know if you need a code example...
