Hi Jamie,

You would need to have a static IP address given to you by your internet service provider. Once you login to your ISP, you are part of the internet and can access other computer that are registered with the interNIC. Your static IP address must also be register with the interNIC through one of it many registrars. The interNIC operates the www dns computers that form the backbone of the internet. These computer are located in strategic cities around the country and the world. The interNIC computer use dns to resolve a Domain name to an IP address and they use the tcp/ip protocol. After your Domain name and IP address are placed on one of the interNIC's backbone computer, it can take two or three days for it to propagate throughout the www net, after which time anyone can access your computer using either your Domain name or IP address.
