I don't trust government research as far as I can spit. Under the Clinton Administration, the Environmentalists left foisted upon us reformulated gasoline that EPA knew would not work. However, Carol Browner [EPA Administrator at the time], ramrodded these regulations through and forced the reformulation of gasoline with the additive MTBE, a probable [scientific classification] human carcinogen. What is absolutely known [and one reason why under Bush Amin it is being replaced with a different additive] is that MTBE has ruined countless sources of drinking water especially in California plus it is water soluble and not bio-degradable. CA banned the use of MTBE in their fuels several years ago [5 I think]. Before all this came about, Phoenix was a test site for this fuel and it was a failure. EPA still went ahead.

There is one scientifically proven additive that does make gasoline burn more effeciently - RXP. What it does is link all the carbon chains in the gasoline so you get complete combustion. In places where you can get it, people with cars that will not pass an emmission test, will run about a half tank of fuel that has had about 1/2 ounce of this stuff added, and, voila! they pass the test. Yet the government still will not go to this additive. Why? $$$$$$$$$$$$. The additive we are about to change to is made from corn. Midwest farmers, ADM and all the politicos are reaping great benefits from this. The most effecient way to produce this additive is with a crop called hemp, but they won't do that either. I wonder why? < bg >

All these agencies and Departments have biased agendas and the bias changes depending on who is in charge politically - Liberal or Conservative. That's just how it works. To politicians, this is a game. To us, it is our lives which is why I don't trust any of them. As the saying goes, both Parties will spend every dime in the Treasury, the only difference is the Republicans will tell you they feel bad about it.
