I have an old application which was written in FPW2.6. This is a purchased product, for which I have no source code. This product is known to have weird problems such as crashing if a Cyrix processor is used that is running too hot.

It also is known to just lock up the entire machine requiring a power off. Other users have reported this as a problem which seems to have no solution. The manufacturer of the software still provides support, but has not upgraded the software since the start of 2000.

I have had this problem in the past, and found that eventually I could get it to work. Oftern the trick was to make sure to boot up first, and use the software withou starting another application first.I have not used it for over a year, and now cannot get it to work at all on my Windows 98 machine. However I copied the files over to my NT server, and can run it fine from the server console.

I also still have a copy of FPW 2.6 on my machine, which I have not used for a year or two. I tried starting that up, and it too locks up the machine in the same way.

I have VFP 5/6 and 7 all installed and running ok.
