Thanks J. As it turns out that si in fact what they meant. Just to throw in some extra info for anyone reading this thread, the final problem i ran into was that even doing this did not allow conenctions. Turns out that if you want to enable SQL access from one machine to another you have to change your ODBC sources (even if you are not actually using ODBC) to use TCP/IP instead of Named Pipes. It will fail with no real error message unless this is done.
