Well, I believe the relation between starting to use version control, and getting strange error messages on compilation, is not immediately apparent.
Anyway, the most probable cause for not being able to "update the cursor" (was that the message?) seems to be R/O, and the causes for THAT might include version control, copying from a CD, or an accidental change of attributes.
