A informaçao mais confiável é controlar o tempo em condiçoes reais. Por exemplo, se cree que no futuro precisará accesar 1,000,000 registros pela LAN, faça as provas com 1,000,000 registros, na LAN.
Pode provar con ou sin índices, variar a sintaxis SQL, etc.
