I'm sorry, you are correct. I *always* set printer to name before every report, so I don't worry about setting it back.

lcDefaultPrinter = set("printer",3)
lcPrinter1 = "\\serverName\printer1"
lcPrinter2 = "\\serverName\printer2"

set printer to name (lcPrinter1)
report form report1 to print noconsole
set printer to name (lcPrinter2)
report form report1 to print noconsole

set printer to name (lcDefaultPrinter)
