>You mean that folks aren't free to disagree with you once you "save their beans"???? Differences of opinion = hate???
>Geez, the French (of France) have as much regard for Quebeckers as they do for Americans, I guess. I know that when I spoke my best Quebec French when visiting France (long ago) to shopkeepers they snidely remarked that I was Quebecois. Needless to say I then played the dumb 'anglais' and all was fine.

>While there's no doubt that the US saved more than France's "beans" in both World Wars, the actual method of doing so isn't, at least in my mind, the most glowing. Sitting on the sidelines and selling to both sides and then getting in when things are most dire is one way to do it. There could have been other ways.

Jim;

One suggestion would be to have settled the many wars that Europe fought amongst its own nations. Europeans have a tradition and history of hating each other. Here is just one example:

1. Otto Von Bismarck creates Germany in 1870.
A. This required a number of interesting events, which ended in hatred and animosity between the French (Franco Prussian War), Dutch and Austrians.

2. World War I, planned from the end of the Franco Prussian War, to “settle the question” of Frances defeat. Many books on this topic have been published and include the use of Trench Warfare, Mustard Gas, etc. They were written for the most part by Field Marshall’s and Generals in the French and German Armies, many years before the war began.

3. World War II, planned for years for a number of reasons. The treaties of World War I economically devastated Germany. Japan was hindered by a lack of natural resources.

When it comes to an event like “D-Day”, how many French soldiers went on shore with the Allies? If you can believe the numerous sources of reference, zero. Many Polish soldiers went ashore as did other Allied nations. If the French and British had lived up to the treaties signed, one of which was to protect Poland, World War II may not have occurred.

Europe has a history of war dating back more than a thousand years. There is no answer to any of this – only reflection.
