I've seen it in the south, but it's pretty unusual up north. I mentioned it to the desk clerks when I was checking out (and turning in my evaluation) and they said they'd really like the policy changed, too. Wonder if it's a case of one guy (say, the General Manager of the hotel) who's a smoker standing in the way of progress.
