Can you start VFP8 w/o your setup program?

>I have installed VFP 8 Beta but when I try to run it using my current setup prg (sets path, other settings the way I like them) it crashes on 'invalid path or file name', on virtually every line. I've checked everything I can think of...is it just me and the way I have installed this or are others having similar problems?
