I am not sure, since I never ran DCOM on Win 98. According to the MSDN article "HOWTO: Use a Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Me Computer as a DCOM Server", the DCOM exe on the server has to be started before client application will be able to access it. I would guess it still should be running when one of the clients closes the application.
