John;

Perhaps the greatest reason for World War II was unemployment in Germany. Even before the World Depression, Germany was devastated by the Treaties it had signed to end World War I. I talked to many Germans who went through the 1920’s to 40’s and they all said one thing: “Hitler was a good man – he gave everyone a job”! If a family is hungry and without a source of income it is unfortunate. When a nation is hungry you have a major problem.

By the way, the RAF and U.S. Air Corp in just one day of August 1943, killed more civilians than all the German air raids against England.

This business of numbers reminds me of an expression of Joseph Stalin, “If a family dies it is a catastrophe. If a million die it is a statistic”! Papa Joe new his subject well!
