Sheesh, after reading the above, I was confused myself.
To clarify:
My application retrieves files from the Internet using HTTP protocol. Some of the files may be ~1MB in size.
During the download of these files, my application updates a VFP-object bar graph to show percent complete incremented in 8k byte chunks.
On one user's XP-based system, XP thinks my application is not responding after about 30 seconds and pops up a window asking the end user if they want to terminate the application. There are two buttons offered: "Cancel" and "Terminate"
The user's a neophyte, so he clicked Terminate and, of course, my app went away.
Out of about 20 other users on XP, none are reporting this problem.
Can this sort of XP "help" be turned off or backed off or something? (Maybe I need to use a WinAPI method to send a message to XP every 30 seconds to "BACK OFF JACK!")
