As the others have said, given your situation you may want to wait for 8.0. However, 7.0, if only for Intellisense, is well worth it. In any case, don't bother with 6.0.

If I were in your position, I'd upgrade to 7.0 now, download the 8.0 beta, and make my plans along those lines.
