They don't appear to be as long as a car on a train, but are probably as wide. Cable car's are not very common in the USA except for San Franscisco. San Francisco has some pretty substantial hills people have to go up and down.

Nope. The mine scene is at least 30 minutes later. This right at an hour into the movie. It's during the day. I don't remember where he was going or why but during that part there is no action going on. I olny half watched it while knocking some stuff out. In fact, I guess it is possble that there was another cable car scene, but if there was I didn't pay attention to it.
