All are in the same boat, beginner but some more exposition than other, I just have one month using the .net enviroment but reading, trying, you can make yourself very strong.
First, In VB.net you need to define each column using the tablestyle option that is in your property windows. Then add a grid style. After you add the gridstyle you need to add column to your grid style and define each column like text or boolean. In the column definition is where you determine all the properties for the entries that you going to present. Try that and let me know how far your going.
Remember to attach your dataset to the gridstyle then you can see the field available in the column you define.
