I dont have another idea but there must be a way since VFP itself is able to display the status of a PACK in its own status bar - IDE. So perhaps one of the UT VFP guru's know how to "hook" into that same routine that VFP uses?
Its interesting that programmers have been trying to find "tricks" around the APPEND FROM, REINDEX, and PACK routines to display progress bars since the earliest days of xBase :)
