VFP running on Linux???? That sure sounds like swearing in the church.
What you can do however, is access databases (eg. MySQL) installed on a Linux machine. Recently I tried that from a machine installed somewhere in the States. 13000+ records in less then 10 secs in The Netherlands.
1 record in .09 seconds on screen.
