In my application I need to show a list of attachements for an company/employee record. The application holds a record (in another table) of each attachment (filename, description and location on network where its held). The attachment could be a word doc, excel file, picture ... I don't wish to save the actual file/object in a table.

What I wanted was to show the list in a similar format to windows explorer using the listview/imagelist controls and allow user to double click to run. I could then use shellexecute to launch the necessary application (using George Taskers Run_with program).

However, I would like to retrieve the icon/picture that is associated with that file type. This is so that it is displayed in the listview control. I was wondering if there was any way of finding out the file types associated applications icon?
