Armin,

No they don't run the IDE. But Since VFP 6SP3 we (luckily) are
able to do almost anything in the Runtime we can do in the IDE.
If I take all that and look at the rest I have the form and class
designers etc. They worked properly well in VFP7 and still look the
same. So why should this suddenly crash my system?.

OK, NT does not support trueColor-Icons, so my Fox in the TaskBar looks
a bit like being driven over by a truck, but I can live with that.
I can not host and test WebServices on a Win98 machine but I could not
do that in VFP7 either (and it would not really make sense to do so).
I might not even be able to use the new GDI+ - stuff, but I'm not developing
ActionGames, and if I can't see the effects, my customers with their old
machines could neither. Because this does not have anything to do with the
IDE.

As I said, I'm not willing to develop on a Win98-Notebook, but I like to know
how far I can go - I'm just a curious guy ;-).

I really would like to start putting some of the new features in my current project which is in development, but I don't want to risk too much, so I'm taking notes of these places or if there are only small changes, I put them in with #if VERSION(5) >= 800. These are things like SET NOTIFY CURSOR OFF or that SYS() command which redirects the search of functions etc. to the inside of the EXE file first.

Yes, exactely that's what I want to do. So if the stuff is not perfectly ready yet,
I simple recompile in VFP7 and thus either display a message ("sorry this will be available
around CEBit-Time") or make a deTour with VFP-Code.

You probably know me from one of my films - I'm a professional porn actor :o

No, maybe from another VFP-Conference or so.

Anyway, hope to see You soon.
