>For example, I very much favor smoking rooms (not sections) in airports. They are closed off from the rest of the population so those who want to breathe smoke can and those who don't want to are forced to against their will. That seems like a perfect compromise.
I was once stuck at Atlanta airport for a number of hours. I had my last cigarette about six hours before. It takes you about half an hour to get outside, the airport is simply huge and the outside world is sealed off.
And then I found the smoking room. Well, maybe I would have used it, if it had any ventilation or one of those gadgets which eat smoke. It seems that it was designed for far future, when the current generation of smokers is supposed to die off from all the diseases promised to them, or it was designed as a pure insult towards smokers. I rather abstained three more hours.
