Further to what Al said - we have a 350 meg K6 with 512 of RAM and it runs all the normal Office stuff very sweetly. My only experience is with XP Pro, I did not even consider the other version. No complaints either from a P2 200 with 512 of RAM. My P3 1000 with 768 RAM and a 15000 rpm SCSI is real sweet. So your existing hardware with some more RAM will keep you happy for years to come. Your 98 users will notice the stability - I continue to be amazed that clients persist with 98, and rebooting several times a week.
I endorse what Al said about Drivers - and XP will warn you if you try to get it wrong with an old driver You will enjoy the experience.
Regards
