>>>Hmmm... You brought it up, but Gerry clarified it. Microsoft is using the word "community" as a new euphemism for .NET-in-your-face. Ironic that, as you point out, this sort of "community" seems to be a code-word for something decidedly anti-social.

I mean Microsoft is using the "community" terminology a lot since a while. You pointed out that they are using that as a new euphemism for .NET. So, by using a general term, it looks better as everyone has the feeling they can benefit from it from an overall MS products perceptive. So, yes, they are doing tools and stuff in regards to that in a "community" approach but, as you pointed out, maybe the final focus is to centralize all under a .NET world. So, based on that, which is what I understood in your first reply, I would prefer they don't have that approach at all but clearly says and use .NET instead, if that is really what they have in mind. However, I still believe otherwise. I think .NET is not and will not be the only thing in MS in a few years. I think a product like VFP still has a long run. It is quite specialized but has some great power and can still bring yearly advantages at MS. So, I still believe some people at MS, when they use the word community, really believe in all MS communities such as VB and VFP user groups.
