Elmer. The code is supposed to add a new record but carry forward the item number and the item. The 'old' record is marked for deletion but can be recovered should the new bid turn out to be a phoney (some people enjoy playing games). Garrett has raised what is probably the bvest answer to date, namely the code does not increment the Primary key as it should at times but issues a duplicate key - which can be reverted. Thanks to you all. Now that I have had some sleep I am going digging in to the problem. The first thing I am going to do is change the way I increment the primary key.
Any suggestions as to the best and mosdt idiot-proof method?
