>I hope I'm not coming across as a Microsoft lackey, defending them in two posts in a row, but I don't take the emphasis on the developer community as a euphemism or some sort of Trojan horse. Here in the VFP community (which existed long before Microsoft started talking about community) there have been many signs of it. They have pushed the wish list and have even been using it as a guide, as a look at new features in VFP 8 shows. Ken Levy and John Koziol have been visible presences here, in marked contrast to the recent past when members of the Fox team were virtually invisible in FoxPro newsgroups and forums. Fire up the new Task Pane in VFP 8 and what is the first thing you see? A window titled "Community" with links to a number of VFP sites (including this one) and dated news items of interest to VFP developers. This is light years beyond the thin broth currently being served at msdn.microsoft.com\vfoxpro. I think the emphasis on community is sincere, at least within the VFP

I think there is no doubt that they do a good job. It's mostly what happening from other department or from other levels and mostly in some isolated offices - despite as small as they are, thet are creating a major impact on some regions. As I said before, there are proper ways to do things and trying to go against actual user groups in place, without given them a chance to adjust or see what could be done in order to avoid some horror stories, is something that is not done right.
