Is it possible that some smart user is using Excel or some other product against the tables?
I don't know how such usage might affect locking, but it seems like a possibility worth checking out.
>The feature is actually not avilable for the rest of the day. After the automated program runs at night and fills the tables with new data everything is ok.

>The users can query the database only through my program. The program has set Exclusive OFF and opens the database and all the tables in shared mode. How then can a user have the table opened exclusively?
>And if this is the case, when the user logs off that evening, he would release the table and the automated program would run successfully that night.(The automated program zaps the database and needs exclusive access to it).

>As you suggested, the next time this happens, I could ask the systems to verify who has the table opened. But how do you think that this user managed to have a table all for himself? My application is not updating/adding records to the tables, it just executes Select queries on the tables.
