You stated the 'average small developer'. To me, this person doesn't need the 'Advanced addition' espesially with VFP. Did you look at the matrix and compare advanced with developers? The advanced only adds SDK's for .Net and Java things.
Also, you don't have to pay a royalties on deployment.
If you NEED the advanced version for a specific client, include the license fee in the project quote.
I certainly think buying Crystal for $595 makes more sense than buying a product that is written and supported by one guy and it doesn't even work with VFP yet.
See, that is a major advantage to Crystal... it is the de facto standard report writter. You can get trianing easily in any area, and it is widley used and tested in addition to being support by a company as opposed to a one man show.
