For multi-detail, it seems that the common approach is to combine all details in a single table. Have a field that identifies whether a certain line belongs to detail1, detail2 or detail3.
Then, put the details for all three sub-reports into your detail band, using conditional printing in each and every field. For instance, a certain field would only get printed for subreport 1.
