Visual FoxPro and .NET
Hi Leland,
actually, I would prefer than Ximian provide the Linux .NET framework: it means that .NET survives whether MS does or not. <s> It also opens the .NET market to the rest of the world (some 27 countries are now either using or exploring the use of Linux for governmental operations; one city in Florida, Largo, is doing the same, and it's not the only one).
Java, as they say, runs slowly everywhere. <s>

>The mono project, although admirable, is a reactionary response to Microsoft's DotNet. DotNet is not open in the sense that Microsoft is supportive of it on other platforms. There may be standards approved by computer regulatory board/committees upon which project like momo can darw, but this is not the same as Micorsoft providing a Dot Net foundation layer that could be used across all platforms. Certainly, Microsoft's Dot Net cannot be thought of in terms of interoperability anywhere near what Sun has provided in java.
