We too are pursuing the dotNET front/VFP backend strategy. Having taken the time to do performance testing, we found that VFP is much quicker doing certain heavy data manipulations. We also found dotNET to be much slower at manipulating Word documents. So while we like dotNET, we won't be moving everything uncritically across.
As new versions come out, we'll continue to check and base our actions on what we see.
In the meantime we're about to do some testing with Kylix/Delphi. If Kylix/Delphi is as good as promised, I'm surprised our VFP leaders seem to have little to say about it; but I'll wait for the test results before commenting further.
