I have a number of complicated forms with the same problem. I found that users cherry picked their way around the form.

So I have put a confirm button on the screen and fired up a whole host of field and data validations fronm the click event. As I am not using the valid method I have made each of the checks setfocus to the text box holding incorrect data.
