I have a need to access and process data which is in DBASE IV files.

I could purchase DBASE IV software and process the data into a form that I could eventually deal with in Foxpro 7.0.

Or, I could just open the files with Visual Foxpro, it seems to work.

One of the things, I run into is that I get a message saying "Convert MEMO file to Visual Foxpro format ?" and then it goes on to explain that "This can later be reversed with COPY TO ... TYPE FOXPLUS".

I am wondering what I am dealing with here so I say no.

Does anyone have the real scoop on what will happen if I answer YES or NO and what, if any, dangers are lurking here. I do not wish to screw up the format of those DBASE IV files because they are being used every moment of the day with commercial software.

Any help is appreciated.
