A local view will transfer an entire table to the workstation **IF** the the index(es) for the table aren't applicable to the specific view.
IF the indexes do apply (i.e. they do have the Riushmore effect) then the indexes only will be transferred, then only the applicable records.
What do you mean by "across the network"?... do you mean using dial-up?
