That's true and well known - but you lose everything. I've got a habit of searching (ctrl+f, type the string, alt+b for backwards) through the command window to find a long command that I don't want to type. Wading through various unneeded or repeated commands is sometimes tiresome... so I was nicely surprised when I discovered this. Selective deletion is exactly what I needed.
