I'm afraid that I cannot agree with you on that point, Garrett. While you can use ADO.Net to talk to an OLE DB Provider, the shape of the ADO.net classes differs significantly, as do their capabilities. If ADO.net were merely a .Net representation of the same functionality that you get with ADO, I would be able to agree with you. However, that is not the case.
