I agree. But my guess is that the vast majority of people who use online forums feel that the latest is the greatest and is must-have stuff and that they promote that position whenever they can.
There is very little tolerance/allowance (again, at least in online forums) for the businessman who feels he is getting excellent value out of hardware and software purchased 3 or more years AGO, even if the business is running smoothly and the systems are reliably doing the work needed. We, by and large, are Microsoft's best sales people.

And of course this is exactly how Microsoft makes its money.
They introduce very little that is new in the way of USER products these days - only minor feature add-ons. When they realized that people had caught on to this they decided to make a new platform, hype that as indespensible and then migrate their product set to that platform.

Of course .NET is "the ultimate". But it will be 'dark ages' once the next thing is introduced.
