>All I can surmise from your replies is that you simply don't believe the reported observations despite the clarifications that were offered through the thread.

I have never contradicted the statements that a VFP app will run faster on a multiprocessor box. I have stated that VFP will not take advantage of multiple processors...the OS will. VFP will benefit from that, but it is NOT running on multiple CPUs.

>Your opinion ("Being that there is LOTS of legacy code in VFP, I doubt that is the case.") seems to be incorrect based on ErikM's comments in the cited thread AND other mentions of "Spy" observations by other people in other threads. And I am quite certain that the reported observation (subject of the cited thread) was with the standard background tasks running.

I have said nothing to contradict what Eric stated. I know that VFP uses multiple threads internally, but you can't spawn your own threads. Eric also did not state (and no one else has shown proof) that those threads can, in fact, run on multiple CPUs. I stand by my statement .. based on facts on how VFP is written and how you have to write applications to use multiple CPUs... that a single VFP app will run on one CPU on a multi-processor box.

At the very least, I should make sure people understand what is really happening. Someone should not assume that VFP running on more than one processor, when it isn't.
