Hi Fransisco,
Yes, Samba is very stable. There used to be a locking issue with multi-user access to Foxpro tables which is why I stopped using it as a file server for Foxpro tables. As far as I know this has been fixed but I haven't tested it for myself. I do, however, use Samba as a file server for all other purposes and have no problems with it.
If you have 900 users accessing the tables you may wish to consider moving to a database server. There are a number of free DB servers - PostgreSQL and MySQL, to name but two. My preference is for PostgreSQL. Interbase and Firebird were mentioned in another thread. I've used Interbase before on a Windows platform and found it reliable and fast.

Liam

>So, they want to have 3 Netware servers, 300 user per server, but the cost of de licence it's not simple.
>Because of that, I have the simple idea to put their DBF in three Linux server (or two, or one).
>I have been search for information on this, but a prefer to share with you if someone has done this before.
>My experience in Linux is very short... I've seen that there is a software called SAMBA that make a Linux server act like a File Server like Windows NT and is transparent for Windows clients.
>Other cuestion is, if the system is quiet stable.

>Wel, I hope you can help me on this.
